WHAT WE DO

Our programs, events and initiatives encourage racial and social harmony and open a window on the world and the communities they live in.

NewArts provides innovative arts and educational programs including online tutoring programs for children and in-person afterschool and summer arts programs, artists in schools and community collaborations, and multimedia performances involving live music, video and acting to leave a lasting impact on its audiences. We perform in schools, festivals and community events. We provide skills and training for young apprentices who participate in the creation and delivery of our projects. We work in collaboration with community groups, governments, and agencies in service delivery.

WHO WE  ARE

NewArts (registered trade name of Newmarket Community Music & Arts Centre) is a registered Canadian charity established in 2007. We offer innovative arts, educational programs, and video projects designed to broaden horizons, and empower children, youth, and the broader public. NewArts operates primarily in Toronto's Neighbourhood Improvement Areas (NIAs), partnering with local schools, and community organizations. We actively collaborate with the Toronto Strong Neighbourhoods Strategy (TSNS), a City of Toronto initiative focused on building partnerships and investing in people, programs, and services within NIAs. Our goal is to strengthen the social, economic, and physical conditions within these communities, ultimately contributing to positive city-wide change.

Climate Art children's Program

An innovative initiative that integrates environmental themes using recycled materials to nurture artistic skills, encourage emotional expression, and raise awareness of climate change. This city-wide program supports mental well-being and encourages self-expression around the issue of climate change. The program operates within local schools and community centers in NIAs, offering a space for children to explore their feelings and ideas about environmental issues while fostering environmental awareness through art programs.
